Not everyone that saith unto Me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven, but he that doeth my Father’s will which is in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not by thy Name, [by Thy virtue, authority, and power], prophesied, and by Thy name cast out devils? and by Thy name done many great works [miracles]? And then will I, [the Lord], profess to them, I never knew you, [I never accepted you to be My true ministers and disciples], depart from Me ye that work iniquity-Matthew 7:22,23. Have you been serving God with your lips rather than with your heart?
The Lord is good and as a stronghold in the day of trouble, and He knoweth them that trust in Him-Nahum 1:7. In the Geneva Bible, all books begin with an argument. In this case, argument means, the subject matter. As the book of Nahum is referred to as the burden of Ninevah (ref Nah 1:1), those writers and researchers believed, due to the preaching of Jonah, Nineveh received the word of God thereby turning to the Lord through belief in the true God and repentance. However, by and by they gave themselves over to worldly practices instead of continuing in the fear of God. They cast off the care of religion (-ref Rev 2:4,5), (reading the word and doing it), and returned to their vomit (ref Pr 26:11), which in turn provoked Gods' just judgment against them.
He hath showed thee, O man, what is good, and what the Lord requireth of thee: surely to do justly, and to love mercy, and to humble thyself, to walk with thy God-Micah 6:8. Men, and women, will never be brought to mortify their own affections and to give themselves willingly to serve God as He commanded, if they do not, with all their heart, repent. Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able-Lk 13:24. But you will not be able to succeed in your own strenght—you MUST learn to trust in Jesus. Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts-Zach 4:6. Only trust Him, humble yourself and allow Him to be the Lord of your life. You will only know His will if you read and ponder His word—daily! Consider this...
